Reclaiming Your God-Given Authority: Walking in Dominion Through Christ

How to Rediscover Your True Power and Purpose in Christ

Reclaiming Your Authority: Walking in Dominion Over Creation

This message is for my fellow Christian readers and anyone intrigued by the spiritual realm and how it connects with our lives in this extraordinary universe.

My intention is to illuminate the truth about who we are as human beings and the divine potential we hold, as revealed in the Bible.

A Glimpse Back to Eden

Let’s revisit the Garden of Eden, as described in the book of Genesis.

The Bible opens with the powerful words:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1

In Genesis 1:27, it declares:

“So God created man in His own image…”

Genesis 1:27

Why would God choose to share such a profound detail with us?

Why didn’t He keep this mystery to Himself?

After all, He revealed this truth long after humanity had sinned and fallen from grace.

The answer lies in God’s love and His desire for us to remember who we are, especially in times of need.

By telling us that we are created in His image, He provides an eternal invitation for us to return to Him whenever we feel lost, weak, or overwhelmed.

Imagine creating something in your own image.

If that creation found itself powerless, wouldn’t it naturally seek you, the creator, to understand how to regain strength and purpose?

That’s precisely what God intended.

By declaring that we are made in His likeness, He beckons us to seek Him, so He can be the One to restore us to this glory and dominion we were always meant to have.

The Fall and Its Consequences

If God made us in His image, why do we struggle with pain, failure, and hardship?

The answer lies in sin.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they surrendered the authority and dominion given to them.

Sin separated humanity from God’s glory, leaving us vulnerable to the chaos and suffering of this world.

This fall introduced death, abuse, violence, and countless other hardships into our reality.

Yet, despite our rebellion, God’s love for us remained steadfast.

He devised a plan to redeem us and restore our lost authority.

God’s Redemption Plan

Throughout history, God has been reminding humanity of His desire to be the centre of our lives.

However, as we saw ourselves to be able to develop cities, innovations, and systems, we grew increasingly self-reliant, drifting further from Him.

We were enabled by His power to construct all these things because of His love for us but we used it to declare ourselves independent of Him.

This brought a lot of hurt to The Lord, causing Him to regret ever making human beings in the world.

But God, in His infinite love, made the ultimate sacrifice to try and rectify this mistake.

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins and reclaim what we lost to the kingdom of darkness.

Through His death (the death of Jesus Christ) and resurrection, Jesus defeated sin and death, restoring the authority that humanity had once surrendered back to His hand.

When Jesus descended into hell, the Bible says He took the keys of authority from the enemy (Revelation 1:18).

This act wasn’t just symbolic—it was a divine reset.

He reclaimed our lost dominion over all creation and opened the door for us to walk into that authority once again.

Tapping into Spiritual Authority

Understanding this truth means recognizing that we are not as powerless as we think we are.

Jesus’ sacrifice grants us access to where all things begin; the spiritual realm, where all creation begins.

Everything we see in this physical world originates in the spiritual.

This therefore means we have access to power that can alter our reality for our benefit in the spirit before it even becomes our reality in the flesh.

This is why aligning ourselves with God through Christ allows us to tap into the fundamental forces of creation.

It’s important to note that when Jesus died, He didn’t take the authority from the devil and give it back to us.

This is why we’re still suffering.

If He had given it to us we would all be in the glory of God right now, commanding everything to be as we want and it being so.

But the authority was given to Him; Jesus Christ.

So, if we want to have access to it, we need to go to Him and ask Him to grant it to us or grant us that which we want through His access to it.

This is the wisdom of God.

That’s why the bible says only those who believe in Him are saved. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

If we want our lives fixed and bettered, it is mandatory that we go to Him. We are forced.

Being Granted Access To Jesus Christ

Consider laws like the Law of Attraction, which illustrate how our thoughts and intentions can shape reality in our favour.

These principles, though often misunderstood, reflect these deeper spiritual truths we are talking about here.

As believers, we can access these powers and laws in the spirit realm fully, through Christ, aligning our lives with His divine purpose and favour.

When we grasp that Jesus restored our dominion, and when we are in Him, we realize the incredible potential within us:

  • We can take control of our lives.

  • We can discover and exercise our God-given talents.

  • We can break through challenges, repair relationships, achieve goals, and overcome limitations.

As Philippians 4:13 reminds us:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:13

The Power of Your Thoughts

Everything begins with a thought.

Our thoughts reflect who we are in the spirit, and they shape the reality we experience.

By aligning our thoughts with God’s truth, we can access the limitless creativity and power He has placed within us.

This alignment doesn’t happen automatically—it requires intentional spiritual effort.

Spend time in prayer, immerse yourself in the Word, and invite God to guide your thoughts and actions.

As you do this, you’ll begin to see the transformational power of walking in this spiritual authority Jesus Christ is calling us into.

An Invitation to Experiment

I encourage you to test this truth for yourself.

Reflect on the idea that Jesus’ sacrifice restored your authority and dominion, if you go back to Him.

Meditate on it, supplement your thoughts with scripture, and observe how this revelation begins to shift your perspective.

Here are some practical steps to get started:

1) Meditate on the Word:

Start with the scriptures provided at the end of this article. Let God’s Word guide and transform your thinking.

2) Speak Affirmations:

Declare truths about your identity in Christ—speak life over yourself and your circumstances.

3) Take Action:

Align your actions with your faith.

Whether it’s pursuing a goal, repairing a relationship, or stepping into a new challenge, act with the confidence that God is with you.

Living in God’s Image

When we embrace our identity as God’s image-bearers, we discover who we were truly created to be.

This journey isn’t just about personal fulfillment—it’s about living a life that blesses and inspires others.

Through Christ, we are empowered to reclaim our lost identity and live in a way that reflects His glory.

This is the life God intended for us—a life of purpose, creativity, and divine authority.

Scriptures for Reflection

Take time to read and meditate on these scriptures for deeper insight:

  • 1 John 3:4–12: Understanding sin and righteousness.

  • Ephesians 2:1–10: God’s grace and our identity in Christ.

  • Matthew 6:25–34: Trusting God to provide for all our needs.

  • Ecclesiastes 3: The divine timing of all things.

In Conclusion

This is your call to reclaim your authority and walk in the dominion that God has restored through Christ.

Don’t let this truth sit idle in your mind.

Let it transform your heart, your actions, and your life.

I’ll continue to explore these ideas in future newsletters, and I hope this has inspired and encouraged you as much as it did me while writing it.
