Trust In The Lord; He Will Renew Your Strength

A Sermon by Me at God's Worship Centre.

Hello, Friends!

On a lovely evening these past few days, I took time to reflect on some gems I’ve collected from sermons preached over my head this year—some even preached by me.

Each Sunday, when I’m at church, I would just jot down thoughts that resonated deeply in my spirit.

These weren’t just words, but truths I felt were necessary and valuable for my growth.

Now, I’ve gathered those insights, refined them in my own words, and woven them into this letter.

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it for you.

This one’s for my fellow Christians. 🙂:

Loving God with Everything

The book of Matthew tells us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

This means surrendering our entire being to Him—holding nothing back. Only when we empty ourselves like this, can He then truly become our everything.

This love isn’t just emotional or intellectual; it’s practical. John 14 reminds us that if we love God, we will keep His commandments.

This means that only obedience is the true evidence of our love for Him.

Being a Christian means recognizing that we cannot do this life thing on our own.

It’s about embracing our weaknesses, desires, and efforts while understanding that there is a God who cares for us and who will handle what we cannot.

It’s not about how good we are, or how hard we try to be the best version of ourselves.

It’s about surrender—letting God work His will in our lives, even when we don’t fully understand His plans.

Progress Through Submission

I’ve observed that the progress we experience in life is directly tied to our willingness to submit to God’s will.

Every area of our lives—be it spiritual, relational, or professional—reflects our level of trust in Him.

When we trust God and submit to His Word, He promotes us in ways we couldn’t achieve on our own.

If we resist, we’re left to face the world’s challenges alone, powerless and left overwhelmed.

John 15:19 says:

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

The world’s rejection can be painful, but it serves as a reminder that we are not of this world.

Our power comes from aligning ourselves with God’s will—not from striving to be accepted by the world.

Patience and Endurance

Submission to God’s will is not an overnight process. It takes time, patience, and endurance. It can be mastered, friends, it just needs a lot of dedication and time.

As we align our will with His, we gain the strength to resist the devil and persevere through trials.

Our lives become difficult, but when you reflect, they become much easier than they would’ve been.

When we submit to God, the world may start looking like it favours us, but it’s not the world itself—it’s God bending circumstances to His will for us.

When you receive God’s favour the world starts looking like it is your friend. See through this illusion; you are not of this world, it hates you.

That’s why it’s better to align with Him, for without His favour, the world offers us nothing but wickedness and hardship, making sure we suffer every single day of our lives.

The world hates us because we belong to God.

Its wrath is an echo of its own guilt and condemnation. But Jesus tells us, “Take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

The Danger of Lukewarm Faith

A Christian life without dedication to God is fraught with frustration, anxiety, and stagnation.

Many believers struggle because they lack a genuine relationship with Him.

God knows everything about us—our doubts, our neglect of His Word, our struggles to love others.

Yet, He doesn’t force His way into our lives. He waits for us to willingly surrender.

He’s given us the tools to reconnect with Him: reading His Word and fellowship through church. Without these, our spiritual lives are in great danger.

We Are God’s children

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us:

“We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

We are His personal project, and He is committed to making us a success.

He knows what success truly means for us, how to care for us, and how to love us perfectly.

When we surrender to Him, we can rest in the assurance that we will be fulfilled and succeed—not by the world’s standards, but by His.

Psalm 37:4 says it best:

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

This verse, a favourite of my mother’s, speaks for itself.

Trust and Surrender

Trusting a God we cannot see can feel like doing nothing to solve our problems. It may feel you’ve actually done nothing, and feel like you are not proactive.

But that’s when we’ve done it right—when we let go of our need to control and allow Him to take over.

When we act out of our own understanding, we block God from intervening.

He steps back, letting us handle our troubles alone, which often leads to overwhelm. That’s why surrender is so crucial.

However, not all unanswered prayers are due to a lack of faith.

James 4:3 says:

“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

God’s refusal isn’t punishment; it’s protection.

When He doesn’t give us what we ask for, it’s often because our motives are misaligned with His purpose.

As Christians, we are constantly engaged in a spiritual battle. The enemy fights against us because we are God’s kingdom on earth—the vessels of His will and His message.

Remaining in Christ ensures that we bear fruit—good works prepared by God for our benefit and His glory.

The Vine and the Branches

John 15:5 says:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.”

The Christian life is about relationship—deep, personal, and intentional.

Building this relationship with God daily is the ultimate purpose of our lives.

God’s plan for our salvation was crafted before time began and executed through Jesus Christ.

There is no other plan. There is no other way. Without Christ, we are lost.

When we depend on Him fully, we receive His gifts: the Holy Spirit, grace, mercy, and love. We become equipped to fulfil His purpose for us and bear fruit that lasts.

Let us stay rooted in Christ, dressed in the armour of God, and ready to overcome the challenges of this world.

This is all for our own benefit.

See you in the next letter.
